Montpellier, est une commune fran\u00e7aise situ\u00e9e dans le d\u00e9partement de l\u2019H\u00e9rault et la r\u00e9gion Languedoc-Roussillon. Montpellier se situe sur un grand axe de communication joignant l'Espagne \u00e0 l'ouest, \u00e0 l'Italie \u00e0 l'est.<\/p>
Le centre historique de Montpellier doit son surnom d\u2019Ecusson \u00e0 la forme m\u00eame de son agencement imagin\u00e9 au Moyen Age.<\/strong><\/p> T\u00e9moin des grandes p\u00e9riodes historiques et de la vocation pr\u00e9coce de Montpellier pour la m\u00e9decine et le commerce, l\u2019Ecusson abrite une kyrielle d\u2019h\u00f4tels particuliers aux fa\u00e7ades m\u00e9di\u00e9vales, romanes et gothiques, \u00e0 d\u00e9couvrir au fil des ruelles pi\u00e9tonnes \u00e9troites et souvent courbes, pour briser les assauts du vent.<\/strong><\/p> C\u2019est en 985, dans une donation du comt\u00e9 de Melgueil, qu\u2019appara\u00eet pour la premi\u00e8re fois le nom de Montpellier.
